Newspaper Websites - What I found out

Even though I hadn't planned to crate a website for my newspaper, I felt that it would be useful for me to research the as it would give me a better idea as to the way in which nespapers present themselves through the different kinds of media.
To research newspaper websites, I thought that it would be beneficial if I researched both national and local websites to find out what their differences were and why they were different.
I found that the general house style of a local newspaper website it a lot brighter and bolder than a national newspaper website as they use a lot of clashing colours in order to make it stand out. The national ones were a lot more subtle and their websites appeared to be targeted at the higher classes.
Both types of websites had different tab links on their websites so that the user is able to quickly and easily go to the page that they are interested in, rather than having to read everything in order to find it. I think that this will be a useful technique to use on my website. The tabs on the local websites used a lot more colour than the national websites which kept to their house style throughout the website.
I found that the local newspapers often had a slightly random feature on their website, possibly used as entertainment for their users, such as 'picture of the day'. This contrasts with the national websites who tend to just stick to writing about the news.
Overall I found that the local websites are a lot more bright, bold, light-hearted and friendly than the national magazines. This difference makes it clear that the target audiences are very different and want different things from their newspapers.
