Newspaper Adverts Research

In order to research newspaper adverts, I felt that it would be necessary to look at newspapers which appealed to a target audience which was similar to my own. For this reason I looked at local newspapers such as The Metro, as their target audience is young people, on the move. I looked at a variety of different issues of the newspaper to get a detailed feel of the kinds of adverts they used.
The main convention I found was that there was a continuous pattern of advertisements targetting the younger community. These advertisements included things such as celebrity appearances at local night clubs, beauty and health care or high street fashion to cater to the majority of The Metro's target audience, those being the local youth.
