After the summer holidays we straight away started our research for our chosen practical production. I started by collecting a few local newspapers from our school library and read through them. I took pictures of the front covers so that I could put them onto the computer and annotate them from there, allowing me to compare them and find out about the different conventions of local newspapers.
I then began to look at newspaper websites as I am interested in creating two hyperlinked web pages as part of my subsidary tasks. I decided to reasearch both local newspaper websites and national newspaper websites so that I was able to find out what their differences were and, again, research the conventions of local newspaper websites so that I can apply them to my own.
During the research process I have been designing the layouts for my front cover and second page using my findings from looking at ones from local newspapers. I have also managed to design the logo for my masthead and find a range of options for the font for my masthead and have chosen my final one.
Next, I plan to research adverts within newpapers and on the front covers, and also posters advertising newspapers as it is my second choice of subsidary tasks.
