Newspaper Front Covers - What I found out

From my research of newspaper front covers, I found out about the many conventions of both local and national newspapers. I decided to research both even though I would only be producing a local newspaper because I thought it would be beneficial to find out why local newsapers don't use certain conventions which national newspapers do.
The overall house style of a national newspaper is a lot more 'sophisticated' and simple in its design, whereas a local newspaper often has different colours making it look slightly cheaper but also making it stand out.
The types of article are also very different between the two: national newspapers tend to write about more serious stories such as war or terrorism, whereas local newspapers write more about upbeat or less serious stories such as a charity event in the local area.
I also looked at the way the articles are written in both types of newspaper and found that in the local newspaper they write in a much less formal style which is easier to read and more personal.
Through my research I found out about the kinds of stories I would need to write in order to make my newspaper conventional as a local newspaper. I wrote about local events and local news which my target audience would be interested in.
